Super Saturdays 5/28/2011

We had a great time at Kacen's 2nd birthday party! They rented a huge bounce house that you hook up to a water hose and it sprays water. It was so awesome to see so many group members there!

We celebrated Armed Forces Day by welcoming home the troops at DFW Airport. They flew in from Iraq and Afghanistan for 2 weeks of R&R. It was quite the crowd!

Super Saturdays 5/14/11

Whew! What a crazy weekend!

Saturday, we went to Splash Island. It's an awesome splash pad in Euless...when it works. We had to call the city to get it fixed because it wasn't working when we got there and once the guy came out and fixed it, it only worked for an hour before it broke again. But it's free, so we really can't complain. So glad I brought chalk and bubbles for the times the water was off!

Here's one of the dads in our group having fun with chalk:

Then we went out for "A Night on the Town" in Mansfield. They had the Texas Motor Speedway show car on display and they also had some Xboxes for the kids to play. Once it got dark, they played "Cars" on the projector in the amphitheater. The kids had so much fun!

I'm already exhausted and the movie hasn't started yet!

Sunday, I had to work in the church nursery from 7:45-noon, then book it to the 2011 Annual DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival in Irving. This is the 3rd year we've gone to this event and I've never seen so many people out flying kites! We had a great time, but then we had to rush to a friend's baby shower. We had such a great time playing the crazy baby shower games (I won 3 of them!) and eating the great food. I wish her the best of luck with her last few weeks of pregnancy and I hope she has a quick and easy labor and a beautiful, healthy baby girl to show for it.

Another awesome weekend for us. How did your weekend go?

Super Saturdays 5/9/2011

We went to the National Train Day event at Union Station in Dallas. Our local PBS station, KERA, hosted the event along with the Museum of the American Railroad. They had an electric model train and had a projector playing Dinosaur Train. They were giving away a free Dinosaur Train book to each of the first 400 families and Amtrak was giving away a free trip on their train. They had a balloon artist that was making really cool dinosaur and dragon balloon animals, but at $3 a pop (pun intended), we decided to pass. We also got to check out one of the museum's train cars. The rooms were really small and the hallways were even smaller! I couldn't imagine riding this thing across the country. I guess they didn't have blackwater tanks back then because there was a sign that said that the toilets dropped their waste right onto the track! After we checked everything out, we headed over to Subway and got lunch. Joshua LOVED the turkey from my sandwich. Then we decided to head to the fountain across the street from Union Station to let the kids play. They had so much fun! There were a bunch of other kids playing in the fountain, too, but they all came and went and we were still there. We ended up being in Dallas from 11 am to almost 6 pm. Jacob said he was really tired so I threw him in the Ergo for the walk back to the parking lot; boy was that a workout! Luckily, the weight was distributed to my legs and not my back so I don't have any back pain today, but my legs are SORE! My camera is still MIA, but I did get one photo of Jacob in the fountain.

DFW Fantastic Families' Annual Easter Egg Hunt!!

Wow, what a turn out! We had 36 people there and it was a BLAST!! There were races, bubbles, chalk, and, of course, the egg hunt (which only happened as soon as it did thanks to some awesome parents that noticed that Joshua wouldn't let me get up to hide the eggs). We had a new family join us for the event and I hope they had a great time. I was at the park over 6 hours that day and, amazingly, none of us seemed to have gotten burned! It was pretty hot, though, so Joshua got stripped down to his diaper and hung out in the shade. Here are some photos of our awesome day taken with my sister's camera (she's in the group, too).
