Day 21: Check out Ask FlyLady

BabyStep 21

3 weeks!! WOOOOO!! I'm going to take a break from posting since I'll be out of town for my grandfather's funeral. Day 22 will be March 2nd.

Day 20: Include Laundry in Your Routines

BabyStep 20

I have been slowly working on getting rid of Mount Washmore. Once it's to a manageable place, DH and I are going to start getting rid of the clothes we don't love. Watch out, thrift stores, you're not going to know what hit you! LOL

Day 19: Read the Testimonial

BabyStep 19

What a sweet sentiment. I can't wait for my house to feel like a B&B!

Day 18: Read FlyLady's Eleven Commandments

BabyStep 18

This is a great inspiration and I highly suggest you go and check them out. My favorite one is #4. I have a big problem with that!

Day 17: Pick a Specific Bed Time and Stick to it

BabyStep 17

This was from last night, but since I had to go to bed, I couldn't post it ;) 11:00 PM seemed reasonable to me, just to make sure I got everything done. I might bump it up at a later date if I find the need to.

Day 16: Read an Email from FlyLady

BabyStep 16

Being a member of the FlyLady Big Tent group, I receive about 10 emails per day. I know that can seem like a lot, but they really help keep me inspired! It's super easy to just delete them when they get to be to much, so it's not a big deal.

Day 15: Make Your Bed

BabyStep 15

Nice and pretty - not sure what I'm gong to do on DH's days off when he sleeps in until noon, but the other 5 days, I shouldn't have any problems.

Joshua is MOBILE!!

Yep, you've read that right, Joshua can get himself around, just not in the "normal" way. Check this out:

Day 14: Read an Essay that Kelly Wrote

BabyStep 14

TWO WEEKS!!! YAY!!!! This one was also super easy. I can't believe how much calmer I am in the mornings. Since Jacob's clothes are already set out for him, when I get out of my room in the morning (after getting dressed to shoes), he has already gotten dressed and eaten breakfast! I just have to make his lunch and tie his shoes and we are out the door. It's wonderful!!! Thank you so much, FlyLady!

Day 13: Pick One of Kelly's Missions and Do It

BabyStep 13

Sorry for the late post, but I drove over 200 miles around the Metroplex doing errands and picking up/dropping off DH and Jacob, so I didn't get the chance to post it! This one was super easy ;)

Day 12: Delete All the Emails From FlyLady

BabyStep 12

Super easy! There were a LOT of them, let me tell you! Luckily, it just took a quick search and the click of a few buttons and BAM...gone!

Day 11: Add an Inspirational Page to Your Control Journal

BabyStep 11

This one was kind of fun. Did a 15 minute search on the web for some good quotes. It will be nice to have a place to go to for inspiration.

Day 10: You Can Do ANYTHING for 15 Minutes

BabyStep 10

This one is the motherload. If you thought that you couldn't get anything done because you *only* had 15 minutes, you are about to amaze yourself. Fifteen minutes can make a HUGE difference if you just quit whining and get to work! The hardest part for me is stopping when the timer goes off! You can do this! Pick a task and set a timer for 15 minutes and you will be so proud of what you can accomplish!

A Clan in Mourning

This afternoon, my grandfather died. He joins his loving wife, my grandmother, who passed away almost two years ago after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He is survived by his six daughters and two sons plus a plentiful supply of grandchildren. We love and miss you, Grandpa Mac!

Day 9: Declutter a Few Minutes at a Time

BabyStep 9

Since I spent all day yesterday in Fort Worth attending the All Western Parade and then going to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, I skipped a day, which makes today Day 9. I decluttered my desk for 15 minutes - I filled up an entire garbage bag full of mostly junk mail! Here's my declutter kit:

The box is for Give Away, the garbage can is for Throw Away, and the laundry basket for Put Away.

I can't believe there's a desk under here!

Day 8: Get a 3 ring binder and put paper in it

BabyStep 8

This was really easy since I still had the binder from last time I started FlyLady. I grabbed a couple of sheets from a spiral notebook I have and wrote down my routines.

Day 7: Pick Out Your Clothes

BabyStep 7

I pretty much already did this for me...it's Jacob that I was really bad about laying out clothes for, which is sad because he wears a uniform. He was actually able to watch some TV this morning because we were ready a little early!

Day 6: Hot Spots!

BabyStep 6

Because of my Crazy Tuesday, I had to skip doing a new day with FlyLady. I did continue with the other habits I'm working on, I just didn't do the assignment for the day. That makes today Day 6.

My poor couch sits right next to the door and usually gets everything dumped on it. I cleaned it off and even found Joshua's hat that I had been looking for!

Crazy Tuesday

Yesterday was one of my more insane days. Dropped Jacob off at school and came home and waited for my sisters. My big sister took my little sister and I out to celebrate my birthday, which was a few weeks ago. We had a great time checking out BuyBuyBaby, a Christmas store, and Bed Bath and Beyond all by the Galleria and we had lunch at Olive Garden *yummy*. Got home and we immediately had to drive all the way out to south of Downtown Fort Worth to pick up DH's paycheck (that's a long story in itself) and we made it to IHOP a half an hour before we were having a group dinner there. We were able to get some tables set aside before anyone else arrived and we had a great time with our friends. The elderly couple on the other side of the divider didn't seem to appreciate the fact that we had children there, but when a restaurant has "Kids Eat FREE" written all over the outside of it, you gotta expect that there are going to be kids there. We managed to keep the boys to "indoor" volume, but that didn't stop the old guy from giving us dirty looks. He even complained to the wait staff at one point, but the waiters didn't feel the need to talk to us about it, so they must have agreed that he was overreacting a bit. Then I totally spaced on the fact that I was supposed to go out with Lucy. I was so embarrassed when I got a call from her wondering where I was! Fortunately, she forgave me and we will try to have a Moms' Night Out again soon.

On sad note, please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. My paternal grandfather has been in the hospital and has taken a turn for the worst. His gall bladder has failed and his body is in septic shock. He has declined any aid except for pain prevention, so he is likely to pass away any day now. We are in the process of saving up some money so the boys and I will be able to attend his funeral. I was unable to attend my paternal grandmother's funeral and I haven't seen that side of the family since Jacob was a baby.

Day 5: Write Down What You Hear

BabyStep 5

This was a little harder than it should have been, simply because I know how FlyLady works already and so I don't really hear the little voices very often, but I gotta do it:

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Day 4: Write These Things Down

BabyStep 4

So we don't have any Post-It Notes, but I did have a note pad and some tape, so I made my own. There's another by my bedroom door reminding me to put my shoes on.

Day 3: Do What We Have Already Done

BabyStep 3

No problem. Got my shoes all laced up and I'll shine my sink again tonight.

Friday, January 7, 2011

Day 2: Get Dressed to Lace Up Shoes

BabyStep 2
Easy enough, I already have to get dressed to take Jacob to school, so this one wasn't a problem at all. Tonight, I have to make sure my sink still shines.

Jan 6th, Day 1: Shine Your Sink

BabyStep 1

Done and done. It was much easier than last time when I had an insane amount of dishes piled up in it. I did this last night and didn't get the chance to post it on here since DH was doing his homework.

FlyLady, take 2

When Jacob was a baby, I found out about a wonderful site for getting organized called FlyLady.net. It was a great help in getting my house all cleaned up. Sometime between then and now, I fell off the wagon :( I'm going to start off 2011 by getting my sneakers back on, my sink all shined up, and the CHAOS out of my house! This SHE is dusting off her wings and learning to FLY all over again!
